Preface Usage Guide for Students and Instructors

This book (and class) is intended to be different from previous Algebra classes you may have encountered. The approach is the result of many years of teaching and listening to students who might find Algebra to be mysterious. For both students and teachers who are new to this text, it may take some getting used to. What follows should help you understand the intention behind the structure and some of the more unusual features.
